Welcome to the new Alternative Learning Experience, or ALE program, opening FALL 2021 and serving students grades K-12.

Wisdom Ridge Academy is a choice program that is focused on serving the Ridgefield community and will require a high level of parental/family involvement. Its mission is to provide high quality, flexible learning options that suit the needs of individual students and their families.

At Wisdom Ridge, families are their children’s co-educators. While the majority of learning will take place in the home, Ridgefield teachers will still provide supervision, academic support, and will see students for in-person weekly check-ins and monthly progress reports. The program is not rigid with a strictly bound daily schedule, nor is it a purely online learning program administered exclusively through third party online learning platforms.

“Our experience with remote learning has shown us that students thrive in a variety of learning environments,” said Ridgefield School Board Director Zenia Bringhurst.

“Wisdom Ridge Academy will support Ridgefield families by providing high quality learning pathways for young people. Providing families with flexible learning options will complement the high quality education that exists in the district and create more opportunities for kids to thrive.”

I am thrilled to be joining the team at the Ridgefield School

District. I am excited for many reasons, but I especially look forward to developing relationships with all school and community stakeholders to create and maintain programs that not only provide personalized learning experiences, but also ensure students are prepared for successful futures no matter which career path they choose.

Drake is currently an assistant principal at Battle Ground High School. She has been with the school and the Battle Ground Public Schools district since 2008, where she started her career in education as a Family and Consumer Science teacher. In 2019, Drake became the school’s Dean of Students before finally transitioning to her current position as an assistant principal last year.

Drake has a Bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration with a minor in Business Administration from Washington State University, and a Master’s in Family and Consumer Science Education from Central Washington University. Drake has also earned a Career and Technical Education Director Certificate from the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and has completed Central Washington University’s Administrator Certificate program.

The Ridgefield School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Jessica Drake.
